Awkwrd was a fashion brand I started in Denver. Coming from advertising the manufacturing world was a steep curve. My “runway” ran out before I got too far in production. But I learned a ton along the way and am very proud of the endeavor.
Berger & Föhr designed the identity. The principals of the studio are also the founders of Ello. The idea behind the brand was to partner with artists to do custom textile patterns on garments I designed. The grid-based logo would change with every line to represent the artists’ vision.
I’ve always been drawn to the Maneki-neko. The Lucky Cat. I thought Kid Robot would be the perfect company to bring this icon into modern times. So, I worked with a product designer to make one, and pitched it.
